Libra, The Scales, is the seventh sign of the Zodiac. The Sun enters Libra at the moment of the autumnal equinox.

In Greek mythology the constellation Libra was actually the claws of Scorpius, the Scorpion. To the Babylonians the scales were sacred to the Sun god Shamash, patron of truth and justice. Libra represents law, fairness and civility, the scales being common place in the livelihood of many people. In Roman mythology the scales of Libra are held by Astraea, identified as Virgo, the goddess of justice. Libra is only Zodiac sign not represented by a human or animal.

Libra is known as a masculine, positive and extroverted sign.

Libra is ruled by The Planet Venus which reinforces the principles of harmony, beauty and balance.

Like other air signs, Libra virtues knowledge and are well rounded and informed being good communicators. Being a cardinal sign Libra is associated with initiation, creativity and leadership.

Libra is compatible with other Air signs such as Aquarius and Gemini, all of whom share an airy demeanor.

Libra colours are blues and pinks. September and October birthstones are Sapphire, Opal and Tourmaline.
