Venus Moon Conjunctions

A Venus Moon conjunction occurs when Venus and The Moon are close together in the Zodiac. The Moon moves quickly through all twelve signs, so these conjunctions happen regularly and their influence does not last for long. They can also produce one of the most visually appealing sights in the sky, particularly when Venus appears close to a thin crescent Moon.

The reason this conjunction is important astrologically is the natural connection between the two planets. The Moon represents our emotions, unconscious thoughts, memories and moods. It is also associated with nurturing, home, security and past experiences. Venus represents our feelings of affection, harmony and balance, but also governs romantic relations, lovers, marriage and pleasure.

When Venus and The Moon form a conjunction, affection and emotions are brought closely together.

This is where the conjunction has its greatest importance. The Moon can bring feelings quickly to the surface, while Venus seeks affection and harmony. Someone can find it easier to show how they feel or to give affection to another person. A relationship that has recently felt distant can become warmer. People can also become more sensitive to the response they receive from others. Kindness and consideration can matter more than usual, while harsh words can be taken personally. There can be a strong need to know that affection is being returned rather than simply assumed.

Romance is an obvious part of a Venus Moon conjunction, but it is only one part. The Moon is closely associated with home and those nearest to us. Venus also governs marriage and partnerships. The conjunction can therefore be important for established relationships and family life as well as new romance. Spending time with someone can become more important than making great plans. Familiar company can be enough.

Home and security can also become more important. The Moon has a strong need for a safe and familiar base. Venus enjoys comfort, beauty and the good things in life. Together they can create a desire to make the home more pleasant or simply spend more time there. This can be as simple as enjoying good food and music with people we care about.

Venus also governs pleasure and personal possessions. This gives the conjunction another side which can easily be overlooked.

Feelings can influence what we want. Something beautiful or luxurious can suddenly seem much more desirable, and there can be a temptation to spend money simply because something makes us feel good. Venus can intensify our desires for pleasure and possessions, while The Moon can react according to changing moods. This does not make the conjunction bad for money, but it does mean that an emotional purchase can look very different once the mood has passed. Venus in its extremes can also deepen envy and greed, so wanting what another person has can sometimes become part of the picture.

The Zodiac sign containing the conjunction makes a considerable difference. Venus and The Moon do not behave in exactly the same way wherever they meet.

In Taurus the conjunction can become highly sensual, with greater importance placed on stability, security and physical comfort. Taurus can also increase attachment to possessions and the finer things in life. In Gemini the conjunction becomes more sociable and talkative. There can be a desire to meet people, exchange ideas or go somewhere interesting. Cancer brings the emotional side much more strongly into view, increasing the importance of home, trust and close relationships. Libra places greater attention on harmony and balance between people. Scorpio can make the conjunction much more intense, private and passionate. These differences are important because the sign shows how the feelings represented by The Moon and the affection represented by Venus are expressed.

Other planets can change the picture considerably. A difficult Mars aspect can add impulsiveness or conflict. Saturn can bring restrictions, responsibility or self doubt. Jupiter can increase optimism, pleasure and confidence. The Venus Moon conjunction should therefore be considered with the other planetary positions rather than interpreted entirely on its own.

A Venus Moon conjunction in a birth chart has greater personal importance because it remains part of that person's chart throughout life. Someone born with Venus and The Moon close together can be highly affectionate and sensitive. Relationships can have considerable importance to them and they can have a strong need for emotional security. They can be thoughtful towards people they care about and want harmony in their personal life.

There can also be vulnerabilities. The Moon can be deeply sensitive, while Venus can intensify the desire for affection and romantic relationships. Someone with a close Venus Moon conjunction can take rejection personally or become too dependent upon knowing that they are appreciated. Much depends upon the sign containing the conjunction. A Taurus conjunction can seek stability and loyalty, while a Cancer conjunction can be more protective and cautious. A conjunction in Aquarius can require far more personal freedom. Other aspects can also strengthen these qualities or make them more difficult to express.

The house containing a natal Venus Moon conjunction shows where much of this influence is likely to appear. A conjunction connected with the home will not operate in exactly the same manner as one connected with partnerships or career. The sign, house and other planetary aspects all have to be considered before making a complete interpretation.

A Venus Moon conjunction occurring as a transit is much shorter. The Moon changes its position on a daily basis and soon moves away from Venus. The feelings associated with the conjunction can therefore appear strongly but pass quickly.

There is also an important difference between what we see in the sky and what is being measured astrologically. Venus and The Moon can appear close together from Earth even though they are very far apart in space. Venus is the third brightest object in the sky behind The Sun and The Moon, which is one reason a close meeting between them can be so noticeable.

A visually close Venus Moon conjunction does not necessarily mean the two are at exactly the same degree of the Zodiac. They can still look close to each other when there is some separation between their positions. Astrologically, the closer their Zodiac positions become, the tighter the conjunction.

Venus Moon conjunctions bring together two planets with a natural connection to our personal lives. The Moon brings emotions, memories and the need for security. Venus brings affection, harmony, relationships and pleasure. Their conjunction can make feelings stronger and affection easier to show. It can bring relationships and home life to the front of our minds, but it can also make us more sensitive to how other people respond to us.

For a short transit it can simply be a pleasant and affectionate influence. In a birth chart its importance can run much deeper, particularly when Venus and The Moon are very close together. The Zodiac sign, house and other planetary aspects show how this conjunction will be expressed.
