The table below shows the Zodiac sign or signs in which each planet is considered to be in domicile. The Sun and The Moon each rule one sign, while Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn have traditional rulerships covering the remaining signs. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were discovered much later and were given modern rulership of Aquarius, Pisces and Scorpio.
This is why Aquarius, Pisces and Scorpio can appear with both traditional and modern rulers. Saturn remains the traditional ruler of Aquarius, Jupiter the traditional ruler of Pisces and Mars the traditional ruler of Scorpio. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are their modern rulers. When working with the traditional planetary dignity system, the traditional rulers are normally used. The modern rulerships remain important when interpreting the planets and signs in modern astrology.
