Sagittarius - The Archer - November 23rd - December 21st
Sagittarius, The Archer, also known as Centaurus, is the ninth astrological sign of the Zodiac. Sagittarius ends officially at the moment of the (northern hemisphere) winter solstice.
In Greek mythology Sagittarius is identified as The Centaur, a half human and half horse creature. The Centaur Chiron, son of Philyra and Saturn, changed himself into a horse to escape his jealous wife, Rhea. Eventually he was immortalised as the constellation of Centaurus or Sagittarius. His arrow points at the star Antares, the heart of Scorpius The Scorpion.
Sagittarius is described as a masculine, positive and extroverted sign.
Sagittarius is fire sign, and one of the four mutable signs. Fire sign exhibit righteousness, and are truthful, straight forward and virtuous. Mutable signs show adaptability, service providing and expansion.
Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter, the largest and most majestic of the planets. Jupiter imparts a sense of duty, discipline and responsibility, but also allows infinite possibilities and lack of boundaries.
Sagittarius are compatible with other fire signs, Aries and Leo, and the mutable signs of Virgo and Pisces.
Sagittarius colours are magenta and purple. November and December have several associated birthstones, Yellow Topaz, Citrine, Blue Topaz, Turquoise.
